Hendrik has been named a recipient of a 2025 Scialog: Quantum Matter and Information Collaborative Innovation Award, recognizing his work at the intersection of quantum science and materials chemistry. The award supports pioneering cross-disciplinary research in quantum materials, sensing, and information science and is sponsored by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement, The Brinson Foundation, the Simons Foundation, and philanthropist Kevin Wells.

We are pleased to announce that Colburn’s paper has been accepted for publication in Optics Express. In this work, he introduces Stochastic Equilibrium Raman Spectroscopy, a photon-correlation method that overcomes the traditional trade-off between integration time and temporal resolution in Raman measurements.

Our group recently returned from a two-day retreat in Yosemite National Park, where we took time to step away from the lab and recharge in one of California’s most spectacular landscapes. The trip included scenic hikes, shared meals, and plenty of time for conversation and reflection.

We are pleased to share that Eric Tsao and Alex Hinkle have each posted new manuscripts to the arXiv. Eric’s paper reports our recent progress on heralded emission detection (HED) under entangled-photon excitation—demonstrating a solid-state platform for quantum-light spectroscopy. Alex’s manuscript introduces a framework for multidimensional photon-correlation measurements, extending photon-correlation spectroscopy into a powerful new regime for probing complex light–matter dynamics.

The National Science Foundation has awarded Assistant Professor Hendrik Utzat an NSF CAREER Award in recognition of his pioneering research in materials for quantum optics and his dedication to mentorship and outreach. The prestigious CAREER program supports early-career faculty who demonstrate strong potential as leaders in research and education.

We are pleased to announce that Eric Chen has had his paper accepted for publication in the journal Optics Express. In this work, he demonstrates a super-resolution microscopy technique based on spectral correlations, providing a powerful alternative pathway for surpassing the diffraction limit. This approach offers new opportunities for high-precision imaging and expands the toolbox for advanced optical microscopy. Congratulations to Eric on this exciting achievement!
